Dafo Si buddhist temple in Zhangye is among the oldest standing structures in western China. A long-time frontier town of past Chinese dynasties, it lies at the heart of the Hexi Corridor, an important section of the Silk Road.

What it's most famous for now is the reclining buddha figure, the largest in China.
